Game Preview: San Francisco Visits Davis In A Massive Saturday Night Match-Up

On Saturday night at 7:00 PM, first place FC Davis hosts reigning Golden Gate Conference Champions El Farolito in a massive week 6 match-up.

The game features two high power offenses going head-to-head in a pivotal contest. With El Farolito and Davis only meeting once this season, the three points up for grabs could play a deciding factor during the final stretch of the season.

After cruising past East Bay Stompers 2-0, the Golden Lions enter the pitch coming off a two-week break in action.

Davis started the season off strong, scoring 9 goals in three games. The front line of Miguel Acevedo, Evan Barrett, and Kennedy Chongo have shown too much pace and power for opposing back-lines.

Alongside the offensive firepower, the Golden Lions defense started to click. After giving up three shaky goals their first outing of the season against Sonoma County Sol, Davis has only given up one goal in two matches.

The home side will see a roster boost ahead of Saturday nights fixture as Allan Espinoza will return to the team. After suffering a hamstring injury against the Sonoma County Sol, the Dixon midfielder will look to ease back into action.

The Lions back-line took a hit this week when Lucas Mohageg suffered a setback to his hamstring injury. The 6’4” center-back put in a shift of dominate performances before being sidelined.

El Farolito arrives in Davis on a two-game win streak after starting off the season with two narrow losses against Napa Valley 1839 and Sacramento Gold.

The visitors from San Francisco cruised to a Golden Gate Conference title last season only to be elimi in the conference semi-finals to national semi-finals FCM Portland.

El Farolito sits in third place with 6 points after four games while FC Davis is top of the table with 7 points after only three games.

The Saturday night showcase kicks off at 7:00 PM at Playfields Soccer Stadium in Davis.
