FC Davis Joins UPSL

FC Davis is thrilled to announce the Lions will be participating in the United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) starting in the fall of 2023.

The UPSL is a national league, boasting over 400 teams that actively compete in both a fall season and a spring season. In this upcoming season, FC Davis will take part in the NorCal conference, which is further divided into two divisions, North and South. The Lions will compete in the North division.

“We have been eyeing the UPSL platform as part of our structure for a couple of years now”, said FC Davis owner Adam Lewin. “The UPSL will provide a home for around 30 of our local players during the fall months, put FC Davis in competition for 9 months out of the year with UPSL and NPSL action, and allow us to further extend our partnership into the local community.”

Davis will compete against a host of local teams, including clubs from Elk Grove, Folsom, Sacramento, and a cross-town derby against Legacy. Familiar foe Napa Valley 1839 will also be on the schedule this fall season.

“There are so many great players and clubs in our NorCal soccer community we look forward to interacting with", said Lewin. "Dixon is doing a great job supporting a UPSL team as is Vacaville. The UPSL landscape in NorCal is beginning to mirror what you see in many different parts of the world where every community has a team to cheer for. We are excited to be that team for Davis.”

The UPSL season is set to kick off in August, with the regular season concluding in November, followed by the National Playoffs concluding in February.

“Alongside our youth partners Davis AYSO and AYSO United, and our adult partner DARSL, we have some really exciting announcements building towards the fall months,” said Lewin. “As we celebrate the 2023 Women’s World Cup and build towards the 2026 World Cup on home soil, we want to put our community in the best position possible to take advantage of everything coming our way both competitively, culturally, and socially."

Keep an eye out for more information about the UPSL season, which will be made available in the coming weeks.
