Davis, CA - In a match full of excitement and momentum swings, FC Davis battled back to secure a 3-2 win over Oakland SC at Playfields, keeping their undefeated record intact and maintaining their position at the top of the table.
The action kicked off immediately, as Oakland struck in the very first minute. A long ball over the top found Mahmound Musa, who neatly placed it in the back of the net. Despite the early setback, Davis responded with sustained pressure, and in-form forward Elijah Alba continued his scoring streak. Off a well-placed pass from Benett Olsen-Zwick, Alba curled a beautiful shot around the keeper to notch his sixth goal of the season.
Just as Davis looked to head into halftime on level terms, Oakland capitalized on another long ball. Speedy forward Alexandre Bernier outran the defense and calmly slotted home a goal with the final kick of the half, putting the visitors ahead 2-1.
The Lions wasted no time in the second half, finding an equalizer off a corner kick when Aiden Albertalli rose above the defense to head the ball home, making it 2-2. Albertalli remained a constant threat on set pieces, coming close to scoring twice more off corners.
With Davis firmly in control of the match, the breakthrough came with 20 minutes remaining. Sourosh Salari-Namin capitalized on an opportunity to net the game-winner and notching his first goal of the season.
The 3-2 victory keeps FC Davis unbeaten and atop the standings. Next up, they hit the road for a Saturday night showdown against Bay Valley Suns in Livermore at 7:00 PM. The Lions will return home on Saturday, April 26th, for a marquee matchup against Fresno Fuego at 7:00 PM.
