FC Davis continued its perfect start to the season with a commanding 3-1 victory on the road against Bay Valley Suns this past weekend, pushing their record to 4-0.
Coming off wins against Yuba FC, North Coast Sol, and Oakland SC, the Lions entered the match in top form. Forward Alexis Garcia-Ayala set the tone early, striking twice in the first half with clinical finishes that stunned the home crowd and gave Davis a 2-0 lead heading into the break.
After halftime, defender Cole Pond put the game out of reach, adding a third goal that sealed the result and sent the Lions into cruise control. The Suns managed a late consolation goal which denied Davis their second clean sheet of the season. With only five goals against, the Lion's have one of the top defensive units in the conference this year.
With the win, FC Davis remains unbeaten and sits at the top of the table in early league play. The Lions will enjoy a well-earned bye this weekend before returning to action on Friday, April 19, for another road challenge—this time against San Jose Rush.
Davis fans won’t have to wait much longer to see their squad back at home. The Lions return to Playfields on Friday, April 26, at 7:00 PM to host Fresno Fuego in what promises to be a high-energy matchup under the lights.
