After a long two year wait, Saturday night marks a return to the playoffs for FC Davis.
At 7:00pm, Sonoma County Sol visits the friendly confines of Playfields where they meet the #1 seeded Lions.
The two sides squared off once this season, with Davis taking all three points. In that game, the Lions sprinted out to a 2-0 lead with goals courtesy of Justin Wright and Ty Shikashio. After a brief rally from Sonoma that brought the game to 3-2, Nicolas Gosal slotted home a goal that finished off the match and saw the Lions win 4-2.
Sonoma plays an up and down, entertaining style of play. While the team has been on the wrong end of scorelines due to some unlucky breaks, their record is no indication of the quality the team possesses. That is clear from their 5-0 win they handed to the Sacramento Gold, a team who handed the Lions their only loss of the season.
Davis comes into the match finishing the regular season 5 points clear in first place. After a dominating stretch of games, the men in black and gold will look to keep their high powered offense rolling which scored 24 goals in 7 matches. To compliment their offense, FC Davis only gave up 10 goals on the season, finishing with a conference best +14 goal differential.
It's win or go home on Saturday night when FC Davis looks to begin their march towards the Golden Gate Conference finals.
